Augusta Veteran Wheelchair Athletes medal in games

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Central Savannah River Area Veterans receiving care at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center here have grabbed 16 medals during the National Veterans Wheelchair Games in Salt Lake City, Utah, which have been played since June 26. The tally for the Augusta Veterans is eight gold, two silver and six bronze, including a gold medal in weighlifting for local Veteran Charles "Buddy" Mays. The Veterans receive care from the medical center Spinal Cord Injury Unit's, one of just 25 such units within the VA. The games wrap-up July 3.
