Charlie Norwood employee helps local firefighters, VA workers nationwide

 Dr. Paul Karmin, chief of imaging for VA Augusta, presents a Service and Excellence pin to Deborah Gibbs during a ceremony July 26. Gibbs, the imaging supervisor of nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography-computed tomography, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging, received the pin for presenting an online course for the VA Employee Education System titled "Lean Six Sigma in Nuclear Medicine.” The VHA National Radiology Program, nuclear medicine division, invited Gibbs to present. The CNVAMC Imaging Service Line also recognized Gibbs for use her Saturdays to train 85 firefighters from Richmond County, Ga., on MRI level I safety procedures. She also gave 33 firefighters a tour of the imaging department and MRI facilities. Gibbs is a fellow of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging.
