VA podcast aims to inform, educate area Veterans

June 9, 2017

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Informing and educating CSRA veterans about VA programs, benefits, patient care and more is behind the creation of a new podcast from Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center.

“Talk with Charlie” is a 20-30 minute conversation with VA subject-matter experts at Charlie Norwood. A new episode will be released every other week and is available through iTunes and other outlets.

VA Augusta Public Affairs Officer Jason Tudor said the medical center wanted to create another opportunity for Veterans in the area to be better informed. The podcast joins a monthly video show “Charlie’s News” available on facebook and a quarterly magazine, which will make its return in June.

“Talking with our Veterans about the local issues affecting them is hugely important to how we deliver health care. ‘Talk with Charlie’ is one way we can get some dialogue out in the community and extend the professionalism and expertise of our staff,” Tudor said.

The debut podcast discusses suicide prevention and awareness. Tudor said future podcasts will focus on patient communication with doctors, the MyHealtheVet system, beneficiary travel and other frontline issues affecting area Veterans.

The podcast is free and in the public domain. It can be found on the Defense Video Imagery Distribution System and on iTunes, and will be available via Google Play soon.
