CSRA nurses association elects VA nurse president

July 24, 2017

AUGUSTA, GA. – A nurse working for the Department of Veterans Affairs has been appointed the president of the CSRA Chapter of the Georgia Nurses Association.

Phoebe Burda, the nurse recruiter for the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center, earned the role July 17.

“I am very excited about this new opportunity.  Statewide, GNA has most recently been instrumental in working with Georgia legislators to make Georgia a compact state for nursing,” Burda said.

Burda, an Orlando, Fla., native, has worked for the VA for two years. She earned her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Western Carolina University and her master’s of science degree in nursing from the University of Central Florida. She is currently working toward her PhD in nursing education.

The CSRA Chapter of the Georgia Nurses Association serves Burke, Columbia, Glascock, Jefferson, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Taliaferro, Warren, and Wilkes counties.

Burda previously served on the chapter’s Showcase Committee, which worked to recognize nurses from across the area. Focused on education, advocacy and support of the local nursing community, the CSRA chapter works to provide opportunities for fellowship, support, education and service opportunities within the local nursing community.
