Whole Health helps CSRA Veterans achieve life goals
May 15, 2018
AUGUSTA, Ga. – A new series of upcoming lectures for Veterans and their family members at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center are focusing on ‘whole health’ aspects of health care and achieving goals.
There will be two ‘Introductions to Whole Health’ lectures per month to introduce Veterans to a goal-oriented approach to their health care. The seminars will take place on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at the Uptown Campus located at 1 Freedom Way, Augusta, GA 30904. The seminars are set to take place from 2 to 4 p.m. in room 2E124.
Participants will complete a ‘patient health inventory’ along with setting health goals based on what is most important to them. Health goals will be shared with the Veteran’s entire health team and allow for a plan to be put in place.
“Whole Health puts the veteran at the center and asks them ‘what matters to you? Why do you want to be healthy?’ We help them establish health goals and pair the Veteran with the resources in the VA and the community that can help the reach their goals,” said Recreation Therapist Kelsey Shull.
Health care teams will follow up in 3 to 4 weeks. Providers make sure that when Veterans come in for appointments to ask how they are doing and help support this patient-centered care process. The whole health care team is part of this process.
