Minority Veterans Program

About the Program

Center for Minority VeteransThe Minority Veterans Program is an outreach initiative of the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center with a primary goal of ensuring that eligible minority veterans (Pacific Islanders, Asian Americans, African Americans, Hispanic/Latino and Native Americans including American Indians, Alaska Natives and Native Hawaiians) are aware of and able to access benefits, services, and programs offered by Veterans Administration. The primary program emphasis is as follows:

  • Promoting the use of VA benefits, programs and services by minority veterans
  • Supporting and initiating activities that educate and sensitize internal staff to the unique needs of minority veterans
  • Targeting outreach efforts to minority veterans through community networks
  • Advocating on behalf of minority veterans by identifying gaps in service and making recommendations to improve service delivery within the VA Medical Center
